Support and advice to live your life free.
Our Mission
We have a wide range of individuals, churches and organisations who support and are involved with us across the Dorset area. The lives of so many are rescued, hope restored, with lives turned from despair to a bright future due to our willing committed group of volunteers.
The heart of our mission is to provide genuine care and love motivated by the teachings of Jesus, whilst we seek to provide practical support, we also consider introducing individuals to the hope found through faith in God is essential.
The help we provide is available to all without prejudice including those without faith, and to those of other faiths.
Currently we work with adults aged 18-60 who are trapped in addiction, and provide ongoing friendship and support after rehab. We also work alongside other organisations that go into youth clubs and schools with prevention presentations.
Individuals - How You Can Help
Individuals can help in various ways:
- Practically with promotion of the work, admin, and organisation tasks to name but a few.
- Community outreach with our teams, connecting with those seeking support. Daytime and evenings.
- Befriender to those who are seeking change in their lives, providing positive friendship, being a good role model, help with talking through struggles and decisions.
- Engage in prayer individually, attend our group prayer events.
- Mentoring, discipling, or skill training.
- Give financially, either a regular donation or a one of
gift. Every regular monthly gift makes a difference, with lots giving as little as £5 a month the impact becomes huge.
- Provide accommodation for a weekend to one of our students on weekend visits.
- Provide lifts for candidates to rehab.
- Workplace opportunities so candidates can work alongside you if a tradesperson or in your business in other areas. These opportunities do not need to be paid positions.
- Facilitate an opportunity for us to share an insight to the work we do, share testimonies, lead a session at you church, midweek groups, coffee mornings, workplace charity events or have a stall at an event.
Churches - How You Can Help
Churches seeking to be involved can help in various ways:
- Partnering and working within and alongside churches is essential for the work of TCD.
- We find it is most valuable to meet up with church leaders for a coffee, to provide a brief presentation on what partnering with TCD looks like and
- Our goal is to provide churches with support and specialist skills as the church seeks to fulfil its mission to reach the community with the message of hope in Christ. We can provide the one-to-one support when those reached are in addiction. TCD’s involvement is not dependant on financial support.
We provide training for any serving function where this is required. This includes an assessment of skills and suitability.
How to Get Involved
Joe2
Before I met Teen Challenge, I had spent around 10 years in addiction, I had tried everything to get clean and sober but always seemed to return to what I knew would help block out past events. I was stuck in a downward spiral! But after engaging with Teen Challenge, I have received incredible support which has helped me to turn my life around.
Teen Challenge Dorset (TCD) is a Christian outreach that works in Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch, and the surrounding areas. (TCD is a part of Teen Challenge UK charity no. 298900)
